Great question 😉 "Recyclable forever" or "infinitely recyclable" means that a material can continue to be recycled again, and again, and again...ultimately, forever! It can be melted down and reformed without losing any quality, and the process can be repeated over, and over, and over again.
Aluminum is one of the most recycled materials today! Nearly 75% of all aluminum produced in the U.S. is still in use today and can continue to be recycled an unlimited number of times. Unlike aluminum which can live forever, plastic can only be recycled a finite number of times — usually just once or twice — because the structure of the plastic gets weaker as plastics are recycled. Eventually, most plastics will end up in a landfill and can take up to 500 years to decompose.
While virgin aluminum has a high environmental impact, we use a recycled aluminum compound. Recycled aluminum has a lower carbon footprint than plastic, and we hope to increase the amount of recycled aluminum as we continue on our commitment to sustainability.
TerraCycle® is a global leader in collecting and repurposing hard-to-recycle waste. We partnered with TerraCycle® to create a recycling program that makes it even easier for you to recycle our plastic and aerosol packaging and help us move to a perfectly looped eco-system! Once collected, the Eva NYC hair care packaging is cleaned and melted into hard plastic (or aluminum) that can be remolded to make new recycled products, such as park benches and picnic tables.
- For new products in aluminum cans: When you finish the product, simply remove the pump or cap, rinse the can, and throw it in your recycling bin at home (or send it to TerraCycle®). The pump or cap can be recycled through TerraCycle®
- For Eva NYC products in plastic packaging: Sign up for a free account with TerraCycle® and start collecting empty Eva NYC hair care packaging in any box you have. When your box is full, log into your TerraCycle® account to download and print a shipping label. Learn more here.
