Eva NYC is proud to share its first Spring DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) community recap. Let’s review!

Our Commitment to Our Community + DEI

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: At Eva NYC, it's our promise to celebrate the unique identity of all strands, right down to the roots. We acknowledge the hues of our hair-care obsessed community as we create products with all manes in mind.

From our planet partners at 4 Ocean, to giving back in our Brooklyn Backyard with Green City Force and Girls Inc. of New York City, our giving back commitments are strong in our Brooklyn backyard. DEI at Eva NYC also includes authentic storytelling of our creator communities and employees. We partner with over 10 BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ charities throughout the year, spotlight small businesses, and donate to DEI focused programs.

Check out how we highlighted unique voices, gave back to our community, and met new friends in our Brooklyn backyard.

January Wins

Community Demographic Results

To kick off the new year, we took a bi-annual snapshot of our creator communities: #helloimeva, Campus Manes, Campus Collective, and Eva NYC influencer ambassadors. As our ongoing commitment to ensuring a diverse creator network, we asked our community to share how they identify. Here are those results.

60% BIPOC
33% First Gen
5% attend an HBCU (Historically Black College or University)

4Ocean Partnership

4Ocean Partnership

Eva NYC is teaming up with 4Ocean to help keep our oceans clean. 4Ocean is one of the world's only companies that directly manages a global ocean cleanup by removing + recovering plastic and other harmful debris from the world’s oceans. n 2024, we’re committing to pulling 25,000 pounds of plastic from the ocean to help protect animals, the planet and YOU to help end the plastic crisis.

Black History Month with Eva NYC

February Wins

Black History Month – #HuesofEvaNYC Content Series

#HuesofEvaNYC is an ongoing content series that celebrates the unique identity of all strands, right down to the roots. This series will celebrate the hues of our hair-care obsessed community all throughout the year and highlight stories and experiences of loving your mane. Because the magic of self-expression is within all of us!

In honor of Black History Month, Eva NYC partnered with long time content creator and friend, Janae Harris to provide protective style tips, product education tricks, and overall education. Check out her stunning looks here! #HuesofEvaNYC expanded to our college community as Campus Manes: Jaydah, Hannah, and Kayla shared their experiences and inspirations as Black student-athletes at their respective universities.

Eva NYC partnership with Hibiscus Brew and Girls Inc. NYC

March Wins

Women’s History Month Hibiscus Brew

In honor of Women’s History Month, Eva NYC partnered with Hibiscus Brew: a fellow Brooklyn Born, Jamaican owned + women owned wellness shop. Along with Hibiscus Brew Founder, Allison Dunn, we’re on a mission to make the beauty and wellness industry more sustainable.

To celebrate with our community, we created a limited-edition smoothie with sustainably sourced ingredients from Hibiscus Brew that were synergistically inspired by the clean ingredients in Eva NYC’s Mane Magic 10-in-1 Shine Mask. On the day of the giveaway, this community activation sold out in less than one hour!

Women’s History Month Girls Inc. of New York City

Eva NYC is proud to celebrate another new Brooklyn Backyard partnership! Girls Inc. of New York City (GINYC) inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold by delivering life transforming programs to girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth throughout New York City.

In honor of Women's History Month, our Mane Magic 10-in-1 Shine Mask dedicated proceeds to GINYC on our e-commerce website and received over 60 donations! In addition, Girls Inc. of NYC hosts an annual city-wide leadership conference in honor of celebrating young women everywhere. This event supports girls across the city to engage in meaningful dialogue and dynamic workshops.

This year's theme: “Elevate Her Essence” focuses on self-care and mental health. From meditation rooms, feminine care, vision boards and various other self-care activities. Students received complimentary Eva NYC goodies and had the chance to spin our wheel for an additional special prize. There were even upcycled bouquets from local Brooklyn florist, Buster’s Buds.

Orangewood Foundation Donation

During our spring conference, the Eva NYC team partnered up with the Orangewood Foundation to assemble 640 hygiene kits. Local to the Orange County community, the Orangewood Foundation is one of the leading providers of services to youth in the area and help almost 2,000 youth annually prepare for independent adulthood.

We’re thankful to the Orangewood Foundation for their commitment in providing resources to the foster care community.
